Xbox Microsoft Ending Physical Retail Teams

During the FTC vs Microsoft hearing in September 2023, leaked documents revealed that the gaming giant has plans to release a digital-only Xbox Series X console, with a projected launch window of November 2025. This would back why Microsoft is ending its retail presence, with Walmart, Best Buy and others pulling all Xbox games from their shelves. With the recent massive layoffs, it looks like the physical team was meant to go.

In 10 years nothing will be physical anyway. It first started with DVDs now its starting with video games.

It is sad that Microsoft no longer has a Physical Team. Hopefully, the Physical Team workers will be able to quickly find new jobs.

I hope there will still be a few game consoles which release physical games in the future since some people have poor internet service, prefer to collect physical games, and re-sell, trade, or gift their used physical games.
