Over the last week Bungie dropped a heavy 20 GB or so update for their video game Destiny which must be installed. This update contains version 2.0 for the overall game as well as the Taken King DLC (which remains locked till you buy the unlock code.)
Needless to say, there were tons of problems downloading the update all across the platforms specially for the Playstation 3 which you can't stop or pause the update. The main reason being thousands of people trying to download such a huge update (fail on you Bungie).
If you're having trouble downloading the update on your PS3 system, do the following:

If you're having trouble downloading the update on your PS3 system, do the following:
- Change your PS3 internet settings to Google's DNS.
- Disable the upnp on your PS3 (which both steps are done while configuring your PS3 internet set up.)
- Try and hook your PS3 up to the internet via a cable if possible
- Finally update the game manually by highlighting it, pressing the triangle button and selecting the update method (this should download the game with your PS3 not restarting into a dark screen mode).
This is what it took for me to get the update which took nearly 3 hours.
