Lawmakers are making laws in place to make sure messaging inoperability is in place. While it does show how it can be easier to control the masses with the mediums at hand it also makes competition apparently set as an equal to them. It's in the EU and known as the Digital Markets Act. But if you were a doomer you'd say it would make users easier to track because of the portability aspect of their data. I think the same can be in return by doing so it gives power to business end-users to report big tech when they are actually gatekeeping.

It will be interesting to see how this develops. How would they set up the apps so that for example someone using Viber can message someone on Facebook?

Even more so how can they link accounts without user permission? I thought it was more the market of things like in an app store but it is over a lot of varying businesses.
